Skye Stutt
This body of work was made with the goal of understanding society’s insect-based fears and phobias. The pieces in this collection are meant to identify the sources of insect-related fears and explain them. The four fear sources that I have identified are immediate harm, delayed harm, unpredictable movements and being outnumbered. Each piece corresponds to one of these fear sources and uses an insect to visually represent the source and give the audience an understanding of it. I hope that this body of work will serve as the catalyst for viewers to examine and question their own attitudes towards insects as I did, through the creation of these pieces.
