Anthia Barboutsis
As my practice oscillates between theory and the body, my work aids in the understanding of jewellery as an insight into the wearer; uncovering information about them such as, who they are, where they are from, and what they believe. Rooted within these insights, is my aim to express theoretical ideas and philosophical thought through jewellery on the body. My thesis work transitions between notions of war, armour and protection, to moments of profound self-reflection, and finally as a step into joy, celebration and dancing. By creating pieces that are philosophically charged, I am giving the wearer a chance at self exploration and definition, in the eyes of others, and themselves.
